Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Do I need to enroll in AILT1001?

The course AILT1001 is offered to all undergraduate students, including senior year admissions, admitted from the academic year 2025-26 and thereafter, as part of the graduation requirements, except for the students of the two-year part-time self-funded Bachelor of Nursing programme for Registered Nurses. For further clarification, please consult your Home Faculty.

Q2: Are there any prerequisites for enrolling AILT1001?

No prerequisites are required to enroll in AILT1001.

Q3: How can I enroll in the course and what is the enrollment process like?

Students can refer to Course Selection Schedule for their designated enrollment periods and Course Selection and Enrollment for instructions.

Enrollment must be completed during the specific course selection and add/drop periods in either Semester One or Semester Two. If a class becomes over-enrolled, final approval will be determined through the ballot function in SIS. Enrollment for each subclass will only be approved up to the class quota.

Students are advised to regularly check SIS for their enrollment status (SIS menu > Enrollment > Enrollment Status). You will also receive a notification email within one working day after your status is updated to ‘Approved’ or ‘Not Approved’. For technical issues, please contact ITS for advice and assistance.

Q4: I cannot find or register the course in SIS. What should I do?

Please refer to Course Selection Schedule for your designated enrollment periods and Course Selection and Enrollment for instructions. For technical issues, please contact ITS for advice and assistance.

Q5: What does it mean if my enrollment status for AILT1001 is ‘Pending’?

A ‘Pending’ status indicates that your enrollment request is awaiting approval or disapproval. The final decision will be made via the ballot function in SIS. Please check SIS regularly for updates on your enrollment status. Once your status changes to ‘Approved,’ it means you are officially enrolled in the course.

Students are advised to check regularly on SIS for the confirmed enrollment status (SIS menu>Enrollment>Enrollment Status).

Q6: What should I do if the desired subclass is full?

If a subclass is full, it will be closed. You can monitor the class status in case someone drops the course during the add/drop period, which may reopen the subclass. When a student drops a class, the subclass will reopen for registration, and you may wait for the released quota to enroll in your preferred subclass.

Alternatively, please consider registering for other available subclasses. There are three subclasses offered in Semester One and three in Semester Two.

Q7: I am enrolled in Subclass A, and my friend is enrolled in Subclass B. Can we swap our enrollments?

We are unable to facilitate swaps between subclasses. To change your enrollment, you need to drop your current subclass and manually add another in SIS. The new enrollment will be subject to the ballot function in SIS, and we cannot guarantee placement in another subclass.

Q8: Can I modify my course enrollment after the add/drop period has ended?

No, course enrollment changes are not permitted after the end of the add/drop period. Please refer to Course Selection Schedule and complete your registration during the designated course selection and add/drop periods.

Q9: Can I enroll in AILT1001 as a Free Elective?

No, AILT1001 is a UG5 graduation requirement and cannot be taken as a Free Elective.

Q10: Can student apply for advanced standing, course exemption or credit transfer?

Advanced standing, course exemption or credit transfer applications are not applicable to AILT1001.

Q11: Can I enroll the course AILT1001 with timetable clash?

Enrollment will be rejected by SIS if there is a timetable clash. Please consider registering for other available subclasses that do not conflict with your schedule. There are three subclasses offered in Semester One and three in Semester Two.
